The Weekend Event Guide: 95+ Things To Do Around the Valley
Big weekend ahead, friends. Friday night brings Juneteenth fireworks over Wean Park. Saturday is the First Day of Summer and a Pride celebration downtown, plus a daddy-daughter dance that will absolutely melt you. And Sunday? Sunday is Dad's day β brisket, patios, and zero chores allowed.
We built you the full game plan β where to take him, what to feed him, what to gift him (hint: not a tie), and every event worth leaving the house for within a short drive of home.
Print it. Screenshot it. Text it to the group chat. Then go make Dad's weekend.
π£ YoTown Scoop: Father's Day Weekend Guide
Friday β Juneteenth. Food trucks, music, and fireworks over downtown. Bring lawn chairs.
Saturday β First Day of Summer, Pride in the Valley, vendor markets, and a daddy-daughter dance.
Sunday β Father's Day. The only rule: Dad picks the restaurant, Dad picks the activity, Dad naps when he wants.
Full details below. Let's go. π
π Juneteenth Lights Up Wean Park
Youngstown's Juneteenth celebration is one of the best traditions this city has built, and this year it takes over the whole weekend at Wean Park.
Friday, June 19 brings the fireworks β entertainment and food trucks in the evening, with the sky lighting up at dark. Bring chairs and blankets; free parking at the Covelli Centre.
Saturday and Sunday, the celebration continues with music, food, dance, and culture downtown. It's a commemoration of freedom and a full-on community party β exactly the kind of thing that makes YoTown, YoTown.
β¨ GOOD DOG ROLL CALL β¨ Dog Dad Edition!

Check out their Facebook page Β»
This week's Good Dog Roll Call comes courtesy of the Mahoning County Dog Warden. Fun fact: dogs make excellent Father's Day gifts for the dad who "doesn't want anything." (Check with Mom first. Or don't. We're a newsletter, not the police.) πΎ
If your dad is a "let's keep it simple" guy, here's simple: Youngstown BBQ Company on Market Street in Boardman. Brisket that falls apart, ribs with the perfect bark, and mac & cheese that's basically a main course.
Grab a tray, find a seat, let the man eat in peace. This is the food coma he wants on Father's Day.
And if Dad's more of a patio-and-a-pint guy, Magic Tree Pub & Eatery in Boardman has the stacked burgers, and rotating taps to make Sunday evening land just right.
π΄ Take Dad for a Ride (He'll Talk About It for Weeks)
Skip the gift wrap entirely. Cruise the Creek E-Bikes through Mill Creek Park is the Father's Day activity that beats every physical gift: fresh air, gorgeous trails, and e-assist on the hills so everyone from the kids to Grandpa can keep up.
It's quality time disguised as an adventure. Dads love both.
π§ The Gift He'd Never Buy Himself
Every dad says "I don't need anything." Every dad also carries his stress in his neck and shoulders like it's a part-time job.
Worth Gifting: What if Dad actually relaxed for once?
Picture it β 60 minutes where nobody needs him, nothing's buzzing, and the only thing on his to-do list is breathe. Warm steam, a scalp massage that melts a decade of tension, and that deep exhale he hasn't taken since the kids were born.
That's the Signature Head Spa Experience at Youngstown Head Spa in Boardman: scalp detox and exfoliation, stimulating massage, aromatherapy, warm steam therapy, and neck-and-shoulder tension relief.
Why it's the gift that actually lands:
He'd never book it himself. Dads put everyone else first β that's exactly why someone has to do it for him. You being that someone? That's the gift.
Zero guesswork. No wrong size, no "does he already have one," no return trips. Just hand him the appointment and watch the relief on his face.
It's a memory, not more stuff. He doesn't need another gadget that ends up in the garage. He needs an hour that reminds him he matters.
Heads up: Father's Day weekend books up fast β gift slots are limited. Lock his in before they're gone.
The dad who "doesn't want anything" always wants this. He just won't say so.
β¨ Look Sharp for the Family Photos
Father's Day means family photos, and family photos live forever β on the fridge, in the group chat, in next year's holiday card.
Skin Solution MedSpa in Boardman helps the whole family show up looking refreshed. Medical aesthetics and skin services with a real plan behind them β brighter, smoother, more confident, no surgery required. Summer's full of camera moments; be ready for all of them.
Skin Solution MedSpa is located at 755 Boardman-Canfield Rd., Suite D1 in Boardman.
π§Ή What If Your House Just... Stayed Clean?
Real talk: nobody's summer plans include scrubbing baseboards while everyone else is at the cookout.
Here's a better idea. Every week β or every other week, or monthly, you pick β you walk in the door and it's already done. Floors gleaming, bathrooms fresh, that faint clean scent in the air. And you never touched a sponge.
That's the whole point of All Spruced Up Cleaning Co's recurring cleaning service. It's not just about a clean house β it's about getting your weekends back all summer long.
Why their clients never go back to DIY:
Same cleaner, every time. No strangers rotating through your home. Your tech learns your house β how you like the pillows, where the dog toys live, which room needs extra attention.
Zero scheduling effort. They show up like clockwork. No calls to make, no calendar reminders, no "wait, was that this week?"
No checkbook scramble. Billing runs automatically. You come home to a fresh house, not an invoice.
Heads up: their recurring slots are filling fast as summer hosting season ramps up β and ongoing spots are limited. Book on their website to lock yours in.
Your home, always guest-ready. Your weekends, finally yours.
π‘ The "We Need a Bigger Garage" Conversation
Every Father's Day cookout has one: the moment Dad looks around and says the garage is too small, the yard could be bigger, or the basement "has potential."
If that conversation is starting to sound serious at your house, Hailey Ditullio is the one to call. She knows the Poland, Boardman, and Canfield markets inside and out, and mid-June is peak season β fresh listings, full curb appeal, and buyers who move fast.
π₯ The Grill Master's Actual Insurance Policy
Dad's got opinions about charcoal vs. propane. Cool. But does his actual coverage match his actual life β the boat, the motorcycle, the new deck, the teenager who just got a license?
Moore Family Insurance in Canfield (your local Allstate agency at 545 N Broad St.) reviews auto, home, renters, motorcycle, business, and life coverage in about 20 minutes. Peace of mind: the most underrated Father's Day gift on the market.
π§ Keep the AC Cold for the Cookout
You know what's not on anybody's bucket list? Sweating through a heat wave waiting on a repair, or watching a clogged drain cancel your pool party.
1-800-Plumber +Air Youngstown handles plumbing, drain cleaning, leaks, water heaters, heating, cooling, and emergency service for local homes and businesses β including the emergencies that always seem to pick holidays.

ποΈ Sunrise to Sunset: The Rogers Friday Flea
Some weekend plans you schedule. The Rogers Friday Market you just go β and you go early.
Every Friday, the famous Rogers Community Auction turns into a sprawling treasure hunt: produce stands, antiques, tools, fresh kettle corn, live animals, and the kind of "I didn't know I needed this until I saw it" finds you can't get anywhere else. It's a Valley institution, and it runs rain or shine.
This Friday it's extra special β screen stars Lorenzo Lamas & Brandon J. McLaren are appearing in person (details in the event guide below). Bring cash, comfy shoes, and an empty trunk.
π Good News Around the Valley
Only nice things, as always β and this week delivered:
π Youngstown's biggest booster gets his flowers. Youngstown CityScape named longtime downtown champion Scott Schulick the recipient of its Sweet Grass Roots Award, honoring nearly 30 years of connecting the dots and pushing downtown revitalization forward. If you've enjoyed a brighter downtown lately, he's part of the reason.
π³Β A new garden is growing at Fellows. Mill Creek MetroParks' largest Fellows Riverside Gardens project in 20+ years β a nearly one-acre Children's Garden with hands-on horticulture and veggie-garden areas for kids β is taking shape and set to open this year. Generations of Valley kids are about to fall in love with growing things.
π¨Β Free art, just a little longer. The Wonders of Northeast Ohio watercolor show β 20 local artists capturing the landscapes they love β is on display free at the Weller Gallery inside Fellows' Davis Center through June 21. A quiet, gorgeous way to spend part of Father's Day.
πΈπ°Β Mark your calendar. Simply Slavic Festival returns to downtown's Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre next Friday and Saturday, June 26β27 β folk dancing, homemade food, and one of the best celebrations of Youngstown's roots all year.
